The only team to have a current home at the Coliseum is the UNC Greensboro Spartans men's basketball team. The Greensboro Coliseum box office plays host to the women's and men's ACC Basketball Tournament the most frequently of any venue in the nation. After a major renovation in 1993 the venue can host up to 23,500 fans for any given event. Greensboro Coliseum tickets include many traveling shows like WWE, Monster Jam, Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey Circus, Arenacross, and a heavy number of concerts.

The complex was originally proposed by the Mayor of Greensboro in 1944. The primary objective was to construct a war memorial in honor of the World War One and World War Two veterans. The Coliseum was composed of four separate venues: Town Hall Auditorium, The Blue Room, War Memorial Auditorium, and the Greensboro Coliseum
